The Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences, Malwanchal University, successfully organized a two-day, 16-hour intensive workshop titled \u201cHands-on Approach to IT Band Syndrome: Assessment and Physiotherapy Management\u201d on 17th and 18th August 2026. The workshop was designed to provide BPT students and faculty members with comprehensive knowledge and practical exposure to the assessment and physiotherapy management of Iliotibial (IT) Band Syndrome, a common overuse condition frequently encountered among runners, athletes and physically active individuals. The programme aimed to strengthen participants\u2019 clinical understanding and develop their confidence in applying evidence-based physiotherapy techniques in real-world clinical settings.

The workshop was led by Dr. Arun Parikh, MPT (Neuro), Consultant Physiotherapist, Infantry School, Mhow, a renowned physiotherapy professional with eight years of clinical expertise in Sports, Neuro and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation. The sessions covered important aspects of anatomy, biomechanics, clinical examination and assessment related to IT Band Syndrome. Participants were introduced to various clinical and special tests, including Ober\u2019s Test and Renne\u2019s Test, enabling them to understand the identification and evaluation of the condition. Special emphasis was placed on practical demonstrations and hands-on learning, allowing students to translate theoretical concepts into clinical skills under expert guidance.

A major highlight of the workshop was its practical approach, with participants actively practicing therapeutic techniques and corrective exercises used in the management of IT Band Syndrome. The hands-on sessions included foam rolling for the lateral thigh, pigeon stretch, clamshell exercises and gluteal strengthening exercises, helping students understand exercise selection, positioning, technique and progression. The active involvement of BPT students and faculty members created an interactive learning environment that successfully bridged the gap between classroom knowledge and clinical application. An engaging Q&A session further encouraged participants to discuss clinical challenges, clarify concepts and strengthen their clinical reasoning. The workshop proved to be a highly enriching and confidence-building experience, enhancing participants\u2019 assessment skills, therapeutic decision-making and exercise prescription abilities while preparing future physiotherapists to provide effective, patient-centred care.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
