One-Day Hands-on Workshop on KOHA Library Management System

The Index Institute of Management, Arts & Sciences successfully organized a one-day hands-on workshop on the KOHA Library Management System on 9 January 2026 at 10:00 A.M. The workshop aimed to enhance the practical knowledge of modern library automation tools among library professionals, faculty members, and students. The program was convened by Dr. Ashwani Yadav, Professor of Library & Information Science, whose academic guidance and coordination ensured the effective execution of the event. The initiative reflected the institute’s continuous efforts to promote technology-driven learning and professional skill development in the field of library and information science.

The workshop was graced by Mr. Kuldeep Sisvadiya, an experienced library professional from NCERT, New Delhi, who served as the resource person. He delivered an informative and practical session highlighting the importance of library automation and open-source software in academic and research institutions. Mr. Sisvadiya provided a detailed overview of the KOHA Library Management System, explaining its structure, functionality, and advantages. Live demonstrations were conducted on various KOHA modules, including acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serial control, member management, and OPAC, enabling participants to understand the complete workflow of an automated library system.

Special emphasis was laid on hands-on practice, allowing participants to gain real-time experience in data entry, record management, and report generation. The interactive nature of the session encouraged participants to raise queries related to automation challenges faced in their libraries, which were effectively addressed by the resource person. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ajay Mishra, Principal, who appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and the valuable contribution of the guest speaker. Such academic initiatives play a crucial role in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, thereby strengthening modern, efficient, and technology-enabled library services at the Index Institute of Management, Arts & Sciences.
