Har Chouraha Bijli Bachao Awareness Program: A Step Toward Sustainable Energy Usage
On 14th February 2025, the Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences at Malwanchal University organized the Har Chouraha Bijli Bachao Awareness Program, a crucial initiative aimed at promoting electricity conservation in Indore. The event was part of the Indore Climate Mission, with the goal of making Indore the leading city globally in energy conservation. The program took place across three major intersections in the city—Piplihana Square, Bengali Square, and Radisson Square—and saw enthusiastic participation from 30 students and 3 faculty members.
The campaign focused on educating the local community about practical ways to reduce electricity consumption. The students distributed pamphlets, held banners, and engaged in one-on-one discussions with pedestrians, commuters, and shop owners. They emphasized simple but effective strategies, such as turning off lights and fans when not in use, using energy-efficient LED bulbs, switching to energy-saving appliances, and adopting solar energy solutions. The interactive approach fostered active participation, with many individuals pledging to implement energy-saving measures in their daily lives.
The program was a success in raising awareness about the importance of energy conservation, with numerous community members committing to adopt sustainable practices. It not only highlighted the significance of reducing power consumption but also showcased the collective responsibility needed to achieve sustainability. This initiative gave students and faculty valuable experience in public outreach and environmental advocacy, reinforcing the role of educational institutions in driving social change for a better, greener future.
