Physiotherapy Support at First Index Cricket Championship 2025
The Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences at Malwanchal University, Indore, proudly provided essential physiotherapy services during the First Index Cricket Championship, held from 27th to 30th January 2025 at Purushottam Mukti Cricket Academy Ground, Rau. Our department’s skilled physiotherapy team, led by Dr. Sandeep Patel (Physio Team Coordinator), alongside interns Mr. Swapnil Thergaonkar, Mr. Pranav Jadhav, and Mr. Asmit Patel, delivered high-quality, on-field care to ensure the athletes’ physical well-being throughout the event. This collaboration marked a significant contribution to the tournament, enhancing player performance and minimizing injury risks.
Throughout the four-day competition, our team efficiently managed a wide range of injuries, including groin pain, ankle sprains, muscle stiffness, contusions, and open wounds. Our interventions included evidence-based treatments such as icing, myofascial release (MFR), K-taping, crepe bandaging, diclofenac spray, and stretching. These therapeutic strategies were essential in supporting players, facilitating rapid recovery, and promoting overall performance. In total, our physiotherapists assessed and treated approximately 30 injuries across various matches, ensuring timely rehabilitation and optimal recovery.
The experience provided invaluable practical exposure to our interns, further enhancing their clinical skills in a dynamic sports setting. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Reshma Khurana, Principal of the Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences, for her continuous support and for providing this exceptional opportunity. The dedicated efforts of our physiotherapy team were pivotal in ensuring the success of the championship, with a strong focus on athlete health, safety, and performance.
