Health Awareness Talk on Women’s Day
The Index Department of Physiotherapy & Paramedical Sciences, in collaboration with the IAP Women’s Cell and Maheshwari Samaj, proudly organized a Health Awareness Talk on March 13, 2025, at Maheshwari Bhawan to mark International Women’s Day. This special event focused on empowering women through knowledge about their health and well-being, with a particular emphasis on challenges faced during and after menopause. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from women of all age groups, underscoring the importance of proactive health education in today’s society.
Dr. Reshma Khurana, Principal of the Index Department, was invited as the Chief Guest and delivered an insightful and inspiring address. Her talk centered on osteoporosis, a silent yet widespread condition affecting post-menopausal women. She highlighted the importance of early screening, nutritional support, regular exercise, and physiotherapy as key components of prevention and management. Dr. Khurana also shed light on the increasing prevalence of posture-related problems such as back pain, neck stiffness, and joint discomfort.
She emphasized that these issues, if left unaddressed, can significantly affect quality of life-and that timely physiotherapeutic intervention can play a transformative role in maintaining musculoskeletal health.
The session was further enriched by the contributions of experienced female physiotherapists, who shared practical strategies, preventive tips, and therapeutic exercises tailored to women’s needs. The event concluded with a heartfelt felicitation ceremony, where Dr. Khurana was honoured with a memento for her outstanding contributions to the field of physiotherapy and her unwavering commitment to advancing women’s health. The program served as a meaningful platform to promote awareness, encourage open dialogue, and reinforce the vital role physiotherapy plays in preventive healthcare. Through such initiatives, the Index Department of Physiotherapy & Paramedical Sciences continues to lead in academic excellence, clinical innovation, and community outreach empowering individuals to live healthier, more informed lives.
