Nayandeep Eye Camp: Enhancing Vision Care and Learning Opportunities
7th May to 4th June 2025
From 7th May to 4th June 2025, the Ophthalmology Department of IMCHRC, in collaboration with students from the Diploma in Optometry (DOR) program at IDOPT, successfully organized a comprehensive eye camp aimed at enhancing eye health awareness and providing essential vision care services to the local community. The camp was designed to identify vision problems early, offer corrective measures, and educate the public on the importance of maintaining good eye health. With a range of services including vision screening, refraction tests, and eye health education, the camp made significant strides in reaching underserved populations who often lack access to regular eye care. The Nayandeep Eye Camp was not only a community service initiative but also a vital learning platform for the Diploma in Optometry students from IDOPT. Participating students had the unique opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world setting, gaining hands-on experience in conducting eye examinations, diagnosing vision issues, and interacting with patients of all ages. This exposure greatly enhanced their clinical skills and boosted their confidence in delivering professional eye care. Moreover, working alongside experienced ophthalmologists and optometrists reinforced the importance of teamwork and patient-centered care in the field of eye health. This eye camp underscored the critical role optometrists play in community health by raising awareness about the significance of regular eye check-ups and preventive care. The success of the camp reflects the commitment of IDOPT and IMCHRC to serve the community while nurturing future eye care professionals. Events like these highlight the ongoing need for accessible vision services and continued education to prevent avoidable blindness and vision impairment. IDOPT remains dedicated to fostering such initiatives that contribute to healthier communities and a brighter future through better vision.
