The Infantry Marathon – Runveer 7.0: A Tribute to India’s Brave Hearts
Runveer 7.0 – The Infantry Marathon Saluting Operation Sindoor was successfully conducted on Sunday, 9th November 2025, at the Garrison Ground, Mhow, Indore, as part of the Operation Sindoor Day Celebrations of the Indian Army. The marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation across three categories—5 km, 10 km, and 21 km—commencing at 5:00 am. The event was organized as a tribute to the unparalleled courage, patriotism, and dedication of the Indian Armed Forces. Guided by the inspiring theme “देश के वीरों को नमन, हर कदम उनके नाम!” and “Saluting the brave hearts of India, every step for their pride!”, the marathon promoted physical fitness, endurance, and national solidarity while honoring the soldiers who selflessly safeguard the nation.
The Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences, Malwanchal University, Indore (M.P.) contributed significantly to the medical support services offered at the event. A team of 25 BPT students was deployed to provide immediate physiotherapy and rehabilitation support to marathon participants. Their responsibilities included the management of muscle fatigue, cramps, ankle sprains, and post-run exhaustion through evidence-based physiotherapy techniques. A total of 56 participants received treatment during and after the race. The clinical interventions provided included structured cool-down exercise protocols, stretching of major lower limb muscle groups (hamstrings, quadriceps, calf, and adductors), crepe bandaging for ankle injuries, taping for calf muscle strain and shin pain, and myofascial release for hamstrings, calves, and trapezius muscles. Their professional competence, discipline, and commitment were highly appreciated by the event organizers, participating athletes, and Indian Army officials.
The participation in this prestigious national-level event offered the students an invaluable hands-on learning experience in sports physiotherapy and emergency on-field care. The feedback received from participants reflected a high level of satisfaction and gratitude towards the physiotherapy support provided. The Department extends sincere appreciation and special thanks to Dr. Reshma Khurana, Principal, Index Department of Physiotherapy, for her continuous guidance and for facilitating this remarkable opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Runveer 7.0 – The Infantry Marathon Saluting Operation Sindoor. The event stands as a proud moment of service, learning, and national spirit for the institution.
