Physiotherapy Support at the 4th Inter-School Football Tournament 2025
The Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences, Malwanchal University, Indore, actively contributed to the successful conduct of the 4th Football Tournament 2025 organized by Mount Index International School from 16th to 18th December 2025 at its football ground. The three-day tournament, held daily from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, witnessed enthusiastic participation from multiple school teams and high-intensity matches. Demonstrating its commitment to sports healthcare and experiential learning, the department provided comprehensive on-field physiotherapy support to ensure the safety, fitness, and optimal performance of the players throughout the tournament.
Under the guidance of Dr. Sandeep Patel, Faculty, IDOPT, a dedicated team of physiotherapy professionals and BPT students including Mr. Abhishek Nikhoriya, Mr. Lokesh Patil, Mr. Arjun Rathore, and Mr. Bhupendra Gurjar actively managed sports-related injuries across various matches. The physiotherapy team assessed and treated a wide range of conditions such as ankle sprains, contusions, open wounds, muscle stiffness, delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), groin pain, finger dislocation, muscle pull, and low back pain. Matches including Choithram vs Satya Sai, Mount Index vs Rankers, Shishukunj vs Sanmati, NDPS vs Sanmati, semifinals, and the final match between Mount Index and NDPS required continuous physiotherapy intervention due to the physical demands of competitive football.
The physiotherapy services included immediate on-field management through icing, myofascial release (MFR), crepe bandaging, K-taping, dressing of open wounds, diclofenac spray application, and guided stretching protocols. Over the course of the three-day tournament, the team successfully provided treatment to approximately 70 players, ensuring timely care and injury prevention. This initiative not only safeguarded the physical well-being of the athletes but also offered invaluable clinical exposure to physiotherapy students in real-time sports injury management. The department extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Reshma Khurana, Principal, Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences, Malwanchal University, for her constant support and for providing students with such an enriching professional learning opportunity.
