SPIRIT-O-THON 2025: A Celebration of Sports, Teamwork, and Well-being
Mount Index International School successfully hosted the much-anticipated annual sports event, SPIRIT-O-THON, on the 25th and 26th of January 2025. The event kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony featuring the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and an inspiring yoga demonstration by the students. The Chief Guest, Mr. Jitendra Singh Solanki, an esteemed professor from IIT Bombay, motivated the audience with a powerful address on the importance of conserving natural resources, particularly electricity. His words resonated with the students and parents in attendance, setting the tone for two days of spirited competition and collaboration.
The event also prioritized the safety and well-being of participants, with a dedicated team of physiotherapists on-site to provide immediate medical support. Led by Dr. Sandeep Patel, the on-field physiotherapy team, including interns and experienced practitioners, ensured that any injuries were promptly attended to. Common injuries, such as ankle sprains, muscle pulls, and open wounds, were treated using methods like MFR, icing, stretching, and dressing. The team’s quick response and expert care allowed participants to continue enjoying the event without significant disruptions. Over the two days, the physiotherapy team attended to approximately 20 patients, highlighting the importance of immediate medical attention in sports events.
SPIRIT-O-THON 2025 was a resounding success, not only in promoting physical fitness and family bonding but also in emphasizing the crucial role of physiotherapy in sports. The event showcased the significance of stretching, posture, and injury prevention, and provided an excellent opportunity for learning. Special thanks to Dr. Reshma Khurana, Principal of the Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences, for providing such a valuable opportunity, and to the entire physiotherapy team for their unwavering commitment to ensuring the event’s success.
