Village Outreach Diagnostic Health Camp by Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences

The Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences, under the aegis of Index Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Indore, successfully organized a series of village outreach diagnostic health camps as part of its commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and strengthening rural health awareness. The initiative was designed to provide accessible diagnostic services to underserved rural communities while emphasizing the importance of early detection and timely intervention for non-communicable diseases. The camps witnessed enthusiastic participation from villagers and served as an important platform to bridge the gap between healthcare institutions and rural populations.

During the camps, students and faculty members conducted comprehensive health screenings for more than 200 villagers, offering a range of free diagnostic services. These included blood group identification with the distribution of emergency blood group identity cards, random blood sugar testing for diabetes screening, blood pressure monitoring for early detection of hypertension, and hemoglobin estimation for identifying anemia. In addition to screening services, participants were provided personalized counseling on balanced nutrition, healthy lifestyle practices, disease prevention strategies, and the significance of regular health monitoring. Awareness was also created about the use of locally available nutritional resources to maintain long-term health and wellness.

The outreach programme played a significant role in identifying previously undiagnosed cases of diabetes, hypertension, and anemia, enabling timely medical guidance and referrals for further treatment. The Department extends its sincere gratitude to the village Sarpanch and local residents for their cooperation and active support, which contributed immensely to the success of the initiative. Such community engagement programmes not only strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots level but also offer invaluable field exposure and practical learning opportunities to students, preparing them to become competent and compassionate healthcare professionals. Through such dedicated efforts, the department continues to contribute towards building a healthier and more aware rural India.
