Index Department of Physiotherapy & Paramedical Sciences Observes International Yoga Day 2025 with Commitment to Holistic Health

The Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences at Index Institute, under the aegis of Malwanchal University, commemorated the 11th International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025, with an impactful and well-coordinated yoga session. Themed “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” this year’s observance underscored the interconnectedness of personal well-being and planetary health. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, staff, and their families across departments, showcasing a strong institutional commitment to preventive healthcare and integrative wellness.

The program commenced with traditional yoga practices including Surya Namaskar and Pranayama, followed by a structured sequence of asanas such as Bhujangasana, Mayurasana, Ushtrasana, Shalabhasana, and Simhasana. Certified yoga instructors facilitated the session, providing detailed guidance on proper techniques and the therapeutic benefits of each posture. A notable addition this year was the demonstration of Chair Yoga, designed to promote accessibility and inclusivity in yoga practice, particularly relevant for individuals with mobility challenges or sedentary work environments.

The event was graced by the presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria (Chairman, Index Group), Dr. Sanjeev Narang (Vice Chancellor, Malwanchal University), Dr. Lokeshwar Singh Jodhana (Registrar), Dr. G.S. Patel (Dean), and Dr. Reshma Khurana (Principal, Paramedical Sciences), along with senior academic and administrative officials. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Khurana highlighted yoga’s enduring relevance as a discipline that harmonizes the physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of health. She emphasized its value in today’s healthcare landscape, particularly in promoting resilience and mental well-being. The program was efficiently anchored by Vice Principal Mr. Aseem Yadav and Ms. Khushboo Jaiswani, ensuring a seamless experience for all participants. The Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences continues to integrate evidence-based traditional practices like yoga into its academic and extracurricular initiatives, fostering a culture of wellness, self-awareness, and professional excellence.
