Eco-Friendly Ganesh Idol Workshop at Index Institute of Dental Science
The Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences, in collaboration with Index Institute of Dental Science, organized an engaging Eco-Friendly Ganesh Idol Workshop on 26th August 2025 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from BPT 1st-year students, who actively embraced the concept of sustainable celebrations. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about environmental responsibility while encouraging students to creatively express themselves during the festive season. Under the guidance of Ms. Jaya Shetty, participants explored the use of natural materials such as clay, cow dung, and vermicompost to create biodegradable Ganesh idols, promoting eco-conscious practices that minimize pollution and protect water bodies.
During the workshop, students gained hands-on experience in designing and shaping their own eco-friendly Ganesh idols. They learned about innovative approaches such as idols made from natural clay that dissolve easily in water, recycled paper pulp idols, and idols embedded with plant seeds that germinate after immersion. Each method emphasized sustainability and reinforced the importance of reducing the environmental impact of traditional Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Students enthusiastically experimented with these materials, showcasing their creativity while understanding the significance of eco-friendly practices for the community and the environment.
The event successfully fostered a sense of shared responsibility and environmental stewardship among the students and faculty. Beyond artistic expression, the workshop highlighted the importance of celebrating festivals in harmony with nature, setting a positive example for future generations. By combining creativity, sustainability, and education, the Eco-Friendly Ganesh Idol Workshop not only empowered participants to make informed choices but also strengthened the culture of awareness and responsibility at the Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences. The workshop concluded on a high note, leaving students inspired to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in an environmentally responsible and meaningful manner.
