Community Physiotherapy Health Camp Strengthens Rural Healthcare Outreach under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

The Index Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Sciences (IDOPT), Indore, successfully organized a Community Physiotherapy Health Camp under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) on 25th June 2026 at Government School, Kampel, District Indore (M.P.). Conducted under the guidance of Dr. Reshma Khurana, Principal, IDOPT, the initiative reflected the institution’s unwavering commitment to community service, preventive healthcare, and accessible rehabilitation. The camp aimed to create awareness about the importance of physiotherapy while delivering evidence-based healthcare services to the rural population. More than 50 beneficiaries received free physiotherapy consultations, comprehensive clinical assessments, and personalized treatment plans for common musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, and knee pain, helping improve their mobility, reduce discomfort, and enhance their overall quality of life. The camp was conducted under the expert supervision of Dr. Neha Mohite, Dr. Urvashi Kanik, and Dr. Nikhil Patel, who ensured that each patient received comprehensive and individualized physiotherapy care. The treatment included electrotherapy modalities, therapeutic exercises, posture correction techniques, ergonomic counselling, and customized home exercise programmes designed to promote long-term recovery and prevent recurring health issues. A major highlight of the initiative was the enthusiastic participation of Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) Fourth Year students, who actively assisted the faculty in patient assessment, treatment procedures, exercise demonstrations, and health education sessions. Working closely with experienced physiotherapists provided the students with valuable clinical exposure while strengthening their practical skills and understanding of community-based rehabilitation. The Community Physiotherapy Health Camp received an encouraging response from the local community, with patients expressing appreciation for the compassionate care, professional guidance, and immediate relief they experienced through physiotherapy interventions. The initiative not only enhanced awareness regarding the role of physiotherapy in managing pain and improving functional independence but also reinforced the significance of preventive and rehabilitative healthcare in rural communities. Through such outreach programmes under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, IDOPT continues to bridge the gap between academic excellence and community welfare, nurturing socially responsible healthcare professionals while contributing meaningfully to the health and well-being of society.
