Malwanchal University, in collaboration with the Index Group of Institutions, organized a special seminar focused on the significance of Yoga and Spirituality, featuring Padma Shri Dr. H. R. Nagendra as the keynote speaker. Dr. Nagendra, Yoga Guru to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chancellor of Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (SVYASA), addressed students, faculty members, and academicians, highlighting Yoga and spirituality as India’s greatest contributions to the world. He emphasized that Yoga is not merely a physical practice but a holistic science that integrates body, mind, and spirit, promoting overall well-being and inner harmony. Shri Sudhir Bhai Goyal from Sevadham Ashram, Ujjain, was also present as a special guest on the occasion.
During his address, Dr. Nagendra inspired the youth to adopt Yoga as a way of life and to commit themselves to a drug-free lifestyle. He explained that Yoga and AYUSH systems play a vital role in preventing and managing lifestyle-related diseases such as stress disorders, hypertension, and even serious illnesses like cancer. According to him, mental disturbances often manifest as physical diseases, making inner purity and mental balance essential for a healthy life. He stressed the need to take the scientific evidence of Yoga to the common people so that its benefits can be widely understood and accepted. Yoga, he added, is essential not only for physical and mental health but also for global peace and social harmony.
The seminar was attended by the leadership of Malwanchal University and the Index Group of Institutions, including Chairman Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sanjeev Narang, Director Shri R. S. Ranawat, Additional Director Dr R. C. Yadav, along with senior administrators, deans, principals, and faculty members. Dr. Nagendra appreciated the efforts of Malwanchal University and the Index Group for developing a comprehensive educational ecosystem that goes beyond conventional medical education to include AYUSH, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Yoga. He remarked that such an integrated approach makes Indore and Madhya Pradesh proud. Emphasizing the vision of a clean and healthy society, he urged everyone to contribute towards making Indore a drug-free city, stating that Yoga cultivates inner cleanliness, discipline, and a positive lifestyle, ultimately leading to a healthier and more harmonious society.
